So I had a couple of "vintagey" pieces I wanted to hang on a wall in my kitchen, but you know I love me a gallery look and heaven forbid I just hang two of something. I hung an empty frame up so I could have my grouping of three and thought about what I wanted to put in it. I thought about putting in a sepia picture of my kidlets, or maybe hanging up a favorite recipe card, or doing something like {this}. Then I saw{this} and knew it was perfect!
A little while ago my mom had given me some old recipe books and in between the pages of an old Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook I had discovered some handwritten papers that I'm guessing are from my grandpa. He was an awesome cook and baker and was always making a ton of treats at Christmas. One of the papers is a two-crust pie recipe and the other is what looks like a list of treats he was going to make one year for Christmas. The list includes 14 dozen Spritz cookies (see, I told you they were a family favorite) and 8 dozen of "Ethel's sugar cookies". I love including things on a wall that aren't photographs or typical "art", it kind of draws you in and invites you to take a closer look.
