how we wore it // holiday plaid

Today I get to participate in another edition of "How We Wore It", a monthly series from Brooke at Silver Lining blog. It's when a bunch of lovely bloggers get together and all interpret an outfit that Brooke has picked from another blog. I have really enjoyed joining in on this series because it's pushing me a little outside of my comfort zone and making me rethink how I dress and put outfits together. As a busy mom to four little ones, I often think about myself last. I mean, you kind of have to in some respects, right? This is my second time taking part, and you can see my first post //here//

Today's inspiration outfit comes from Because Shanna Said So and the first thing I noticed was the bright pop of red plaid against the neutrals.
Well, red is not really my color, but I do happen to have one red top that I was able to use against darker colors in an outfit I could wear to church and I think I kept the spirit of the outfit pretty well; or at least, as well as I could have without buying a new outfit. ;)

The weather was a little cold and drizzly that afternoon so an umbrella became a necessary accessory, but that's okay! After all the dry weather I am welcoming any moisture we get!
Our kids were waiting in the car (we had stopped on the way home from church to look at some property) and my little dove wanted to get in on the action too, so of course I had to take some pictures with this handsome guy.

This month's outfit was a lot of fun to work with and I hope I get to participate in "How We Wore it" again! If you'd like to give it a go, hop over to Brooke's blog and sign up via her Google doc. Be sure to check out these other lovely ladies who participated as well!

  1. I just love the way you did this--I love that skirt and I love that you tucked in your shirt--such a polished look. The scarf just tops it off! :)

    1. Thanks so much Sharlee! Growing up I never tucked my tops into my skirts, now I pretty much always do! Funny how our tastes change over time, huh?

  12. Your pictures are adorable especially the last one. I love your take on the look. Neutral with a pop of red definitely stood out to me too.
