monday musings link up #4: I was worried he wouldn't show up...

Thank you to everyone who has been linking up to Monday Musings!
I really enjoy reading them and getting to know a little bit more about all of you.
As an extra thank you, I'm going to start sharing some of my favorites to my Instagram and Facebook accounts once the link up has closed. :)
***************

I woke up that morning and it took me a second; then once I realized what day it was I was surprised I had ever fallen asleep.
Also, I felt a little bit of resentment that I had been up late getting things ready and setting stuff up in the tent outside while my husband enjoyed his nerdy Bachelor party with his friends and had probably gotten to bed at a semi-decent time.
I mean, there I was hanging lanterns and lights in a rented tent at who-knows-what-time while he was at Medieval Times eating delicious food with his hands and watching grown men pretend to joust each other...
But I digress.

I walked to the bathroom to get ready feeling surprisingly calm and collected. Since I'd gotten my hair done the day before for some early pictures, I just had to fix a few spots with my curling iron.
Put on my makeup.
Stare some more at my gorgeous engagement ring and thinking about how excited I was to add my band to it later that morning.
Get into the most beautiful dress in the world. The first of only three dresses I tried on and it was the dress...
But I digress again.

Got into the car with my mom to stop at the florist's before heading to the Newport Beach Temple.
Take a peek into the box at my beautiful, beautiful bouquet. The bouquet that almost wasn't, because for some reason I had to go to three different florists because none of them could see my vision that I merely wanted an all-white bouquet, every white flower you could think of.
"Oh no, you don't want that."
Yes I do.

And that's when I started getting nervous.
What if he doesn't show up?
This just seems too perfect, what if he woke up this morning and changed his mind?
What if I wake up and this was all a dream? What if we never actually got back together after that first time we broke up... or the second? (Yeah, that's a whole other post.)

We find a place to park and my stomach is getting more and more butterflies as I get nearer to the big set of doors. I see some friends waiting outside for other people and ask if they've seen him yet? Is he here?
I guess I sounded scared or unsure because they just give me a funny look and say yes.
I walk in and I'm greeted and already I'm feeling a little calmer, a little at peace. But that's always how I feel when I walk into the temple, the whole world just starts to melt away.
Then I see him, and he looks calm, he looks sure... he looks handsome.

It wasn't until much later in the day that I thought to myself, "Hey, that ribbon around my bouquet was supposed to be aqua".

  1. I loved that at the end you did not realize that the ribbon was supposed to be a different color. All of the small details of the wedding seemed so BIG. But the day of were not really important at all. Men have it so easy with the wedding stuff.

  5. Everything is so beautiful!! Your dress, the flowers (why were they so against an all white bouquet? I loved it!), the beach pics, the venue... I went to UCI, so right by Newport and I love it there. Definitely an ideal wedding spot. We're getting married after our 2nd baby is born, so I'm 99.9% sure he'll show up ;) But I think those jitters are part of the fun and excitement of it all.

    1. LOL, he better, right? :D Newport Beach is definitely gorgeous, and thanks for your kind words. I have no idea what the issue was with the idea of an all-white bouquet, I've seen plenty of them so I don't really get the problem. It must have been some giant conspiracy.

  6. I love this post Sooo much!! So many things to comment on I hope I don't forget anything :))

Firstly the Aqua ribbon hahaha just when I was getting really mushy you made me crack a huge smile ;)

The white flowers are beautiful!!! How could any florist not agree!

You look absolutely stunning!!! I just love love love looking at wedding photos, you can see the love beaming from the photos and it makes me feel so squishy and happy - AND makes me want to cry!!!
I always cry at every wedding!! Even the ones on TV but the day of my own wedding I didn't shed a single tear! I think I was too nervous too!
Nick was calm cool and collected a was a sweating nervous mess and thank goodness my dress was full length and bell shaped because my legs were SHAKING so severely the entire ceremony. I thought for sure all the wedding guests could tell, but everyone said they didn't see a single shake heheh

    1. Thanks for all your sweet thoughts Holly. And that's hilarious, I also didn't cry at my wedding, but then I always do at other people's and my husband always acts offended, like "you didn't even cry at ours"...

  8. Wow, great story and very detailed! What I remember from my wedding was I was nervous because I do not like being the center of attention. It sounds crazy, but I think I would have rather eloped or just have gotten sealed in the Temple...I really did not want a reception that was all my mom. Back then I was really shy, that after the wedding I went back to my mom's house and slept in my old bed and hung out with my maid of honor....I was so embarrassed at what people would think...I know I am crazy weird...

    1. Oh my gosh Jess, my little sister is getting married at the end of the month and she is the same way! DID NOT want a reception (just like, a casual bbq type thing) but my mom and I were afraid she'd look back and be sad someday... I don't know, what do you think? Are you glad you had a reception?
      Definitely don't think you're weird. :)

    1. Thanks, that's so sweet of you... my makeup is one thing I actually wish I'd splurged on and had someone else do, lol. My husband (sweet guy that he is) still talks about how he wasn't a fan of my makeup that day. :/
