painted heart pallet

Do you ever get a whim to craft something?
At around 8:00 at night?
Sometimes I get the kids in bed and all I want to do is sleep.
Sometimes I get the kids in bed and I just want to #craftallthethings.
This can pose some problems. First of all, for a blogger it’s hard to take quality pictures when you have zero natural light to work with. Secondly, you’re in a frantic rush to get things done before you poop out completely. There’s also the extra challenge of not really being able to make any noise, so power tools or loud hammering is out. So when I decided that I wanted needed to make some Valentines decor for my mantel I knew it had to quick and easy. This craft fit the bill; it took two “tools”, used two materials, and only about 5 minutes from start to finish.

I ventured out into our freezing garage and pulled out three pallet boards that I already had cut from disassembling a pallet a few months ago. I also grabbed some duct tape, a bottle of pink craft paint, and a small brush.
After I wiped down the boards inside, I lined them up and placed duct tape along the seams in the back. Yep, super professional. Hey, don’t judge me. I’m sure I’ll go back soon and secure it better, more like this pallet sign (Or maybe not, we’ll see where it rates on my list of priorities. After all, no one sees the back anyway and why make things harder than they have to be?!). Once my boards were stuck together, I merely free-handed a pink heart on the front. Nothing fancy and anyone could do this because trust me, I have pretty much zero artistic ability when it comes to drawing.
It really doesn’t get much simpler than that!

Have you started decorating for Valentine’s Day yet? And what have you used duct tape for lately?
