Saturday Shout Out: my post-baby wardrobe

I started this craft blog after seeing so many other people that had started craft blogs, photography blogs, cooking blogs... you name it and it's out there. My husband and I figured, why couldn't I do that too? I've never really thought of myself as a super crafty or creative person. My creative abilities were always limited to scrapbooking before (which, I don't mean to brag but I think I do quite well). Even card making intimidated me, I think it was something about trying to make something approximately 4" x 6" look unique and cute. It's only been in the past year or so that I've pushed myself to do more and try. I've loved the results and am proud of how far I've come; but I really couldn't have done it without the inspiration from others. So, this is how the idea for my weekly post came about. My Saturday Shout Out is a way for me to give some love to fellow bloggers. I might not always try to replicate what I rave about, but something that they've done has inspired me in some way or I've just simply fallen in love with it. Hopefully, it is also a way for all of you reading this blog to see what other awesome blogs are out there. I hope you enjoy!

So, my first shout out goes to Leslie over at Leslie's Latest Creations. She recently started a weekly series called Friday Fashions. Her inspiration? "I have been suffering from wardrobe blues. My closet might look packed, but looks can be deceiving! If you were to divide my clothes into categories, you would come up with 5: 'Doesn't Fit', 'Out of Style', 'Worn Out', 'Boring', and 'Fits Fashionably'...I have very little that could truly be labeled 'Fits Fashionably'." Wow Leslie, you took the words right out of my mouth. I'm a little ashamed to say that 9 months after my little dove was born my body is still not how I'd like it. I'm working on it, but in the mean time Leslie has inspired me to start looking through my wardrobe and make changes to broaden my horizon beyond the rotation of 6 shirts I almost always wear. Now, she's super talented and makes items from scratch which I may never do, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to tweak some of my clothes that I wasn't wearing anyway, if I ruined them it would be no loss since I never wear them anyway!

I have had this shirt longer than I've been married, I think at least 5 years. I don't think I've ever worn it. Ever. Although it didn't have the tags on it, so maybe I did once. Anyway, there's nothing really wrong with it (although after taking this picture I realized how frumpy and BIG it made me look, eww), but not really my style, where would a stay-at-home mom wear this business type shirt?
This is much more my style, short sleeves, a little lace, simple but sweet. (And after looking at the two pictures side by side it seems like I'm about 5 pounds lighter, at least to me). It cost me about $3.00 worth of lace and was much easier than I thought it would be! The inside of the sleeve seams are pretty messy, but who will ever see them other than me? No one! Ha, take that perfection!
I love it! Thank you Leslie for your great posts and inspiring me to work with some of the clothes I already have! I can't wait to look through my closet and find more diamonds in the rough.
